Welcome to The Farm at Old World Garden!
Located just a few miles off of Interstate 70 in East-Central Ohio (Guernsey County), The Farm is a place where nature, charm, and relaxation all come together to create a one of a kind atmosphere for visitors and overnight guests. Spread across 46 rolling acres, the private farm’s gardens, walkways, and 3.5 miles of scenic trails wind through the property to take visitors to lush gardens, water features, ponds, sitting areas, private cabins and more.
The History
In 2020, Jim & Mary Competti purchased an overgrown 20 acre parcel of land with hopes to create a special kind of farm – not one that grew crops, but instead, experiences and happiness for those who visited.
It wasn’t easy in the beginning. The property had been all but abandoned for years and was filled with dilapidated and overrun mobile homes, cars – and mountains of trash strewn all throughout the property. But they had the vision and slowly began to clear away the debris and work on the dream.
They started by renovating the only salvageable structure on the property – an old lean-to horse barn – into an event barn complete with an outdoor kitchen, fireplace and covered bar area. From there they installed the first of many gardens and sitting areas while building their home and a cabin house for visitors to stay on the back of the farm.
Since that pivotal first year, the farm continues to expand with new buildings and projects every year. In 2023 the farm added an additional 26 acres of land and connected it all with 3.5 miles of scenic rolling walking and hiking trails. A pond was also dug out that year, turning an unusable ravine into a serene sitting area complete with a pavilion and bar area – and even a pickle ball court for visitors to enjoy.
Fast forward to 2025 and the now 46 acre farm has a little something for everyone. This year, one of the farm’s most captivating highlights will be the opening of The Grassland Gardens in August. The two plus acre garden will be a one-of-a-kind space dedicated to native and low-maintenance ornamental grasses. This lush garden will offer breathtaking displays of various textures and colors, with carefully curated beds and spaces showcasing the natural beauty of these resilient plants along with colorful plantings of annuals to bring the whole area to life.
What To Do At The Farm
For those seeking a peaceful overnight stay, the farm offers a cozy cabin cottage, perfect for a private retreat. Additionally, guests can choose a more rustic group or family experience by renting out our three charming sleeping cabins. The sleeping cabins come with exclusive access to a private shower house equipped with two full bathrooms, as well as use of the party barn and outdoor kitchen area. Here, visitors can enjoy gathering around the fireplace, sharing stories by the fire pit, or cooking together using the pizza oven and Argentinian grill.
The Farm at Old World Garden is also an exceptional venue for weddings, celebrations, and special events. The spacious 3,100-square-foot event center (Available August 1st, 2025) provides an elegant space for receptions, parties, and gatherings of all kinds. The adjacent party barn and courtyard, complete with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, add rustic charm and versatility to any occasion. The party barn is open for rental from May 15th to October 31st.

From individual tours to group options, you can schedule a two hour tour to get a behind the scenes look at the farm and all it has to offer.
A serene pond, surrounded by inviting sitting areas, offers a peaceful escape for relaxation or socializing. The pond area also features a covered pavilion making it an ideal spot for outdoor gatherings or small parties. There is even a pickle ball court next to the pavilion. This beautiful space can also be rented for private events, providing a memorable setting for everything from family reunions to corporate outings.
The Farm is also offers a beautiful and diverse setting for photography, offering stunning backdrops in every season. Whether you’re a professional photographer capturing engagement or family portraits, or an amateur looking for a picturesque spot for creative shots, our farm provides a variety of scenic locations. Photography sessions at Old World Garden are by appointment only. We offer a flat fee of $100 for up to 2.5 hours for groups of up to five people. For larger groups (more than five), the fee is $200.
